Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold steady to 4.00 lower with
the exception of 9 weight steers which sold 8.00 higher. Steer calves were
steady to 6.00 lower while heifer calves were 4.00-8.00 lower. Demand was good
on a moderate supply. There were seven loads of 8 and 9 weight steers in the
offering with the remaining balance mostly unweaned or short-weaned calves. The
largest draft of the day was 123 head of steers weighing 950 lbs. which sold
for 339.00/cwt. The USDA's Cattle on Feed Report, released Friday, reported
Inventories were one percent lower, Placements were seven percent lower and
Marketings were six percent lower than a year ago. The CME Cattle Futures
traded lower, on Tuesday, while the Grain Futures traded higher.
