SLAUGHTER CATTLE 261 254 318
Compared to last week, slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Demand was
moderate on a light supply. The top slaughter bull sold for 212.00/cwt. and the
top slaughter cow sold for 174.00/cwt. Replacement cattle outnumbered slaughter
animals with the top pair selling for 4000.00/pair and the top bred cows
selling for 3450.00. A cool front moved across the area this week bringing
lower temperatures and some scattered showers. Pastures have continued to green
up with some growth, however more rainfall is need to replenish water supplies
in ponds and streams. Boxed Beef prices are showing some positive gains this
week following several weeks of trending lower.
