Compared to last week, slaughter cows and bulls sold 2.00-4.00 higher. Demand
was good on a moderate supply. The top slaughter bull brought 214.00/cwt. while
the top slaughter cow brought 169.00/cwt. There was a good offering of bred
cows and pairs from several herd dispersals with the top bred cow bringing
2950.00/head and the top cow/calf pairs bringing 3500.00/pair. The USDA's cold
storage report released Friday had beef in freezers 2 percent lower than last
month and 2 percent lower than a year ago.
