Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold steady to 5.00 lower with spots
10.00 lower on some calves, mostly those under 450 lbs. Demand was good for a
moderate supply. Cattle futures ended the day sharply lower following the news
that President Trump will lower tariffs on beef imports and the futures market
has lost significant ground over the last week, despite the cash market for fed
cattle making new all time highs. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady to 2.00
higher.
