Compared to last week, steer calves under 600 lbs were lightly tested on a very
limited offering, with the bulk of the feeder steers weighing over 600 lbs, 6
weight steers sold steady to firm, with 2 pot loads of upper 7 weight steers
trading with a firm to higher undertone and 120 hd of 910 lb steers sold with a
firm undertone. Heifer calves under 500 lbs were lightly tested, with 500-550
lbs trading firm to 7.00 higher, 550-600 lbs sold steady and over 600 lbs on a
light offering sold mostly steady. Demand was good on a moderate supply. The
steer calves under 600 lbs sold mostly in small packages, singles with overall
quality and quantity not as attractive as last week, two pot loads of 870-887
lb steers consisted of a lot of crossbreds and didn't match well with last
week's all black pot loads. Several stick out sales included 60 steers
weighing 633 lbs 423.00, 69 steers weighing 793 lbs at 373.25 and 120 hd
weighing 910 lbs at 347.50. Slaughter cows sold steady to 4.00 higher.
