Compared to the last auction two weeks ago, steer and heifer calves under 650
lbs sold mostly 20.00-30.00 higher, spots 35.00 higher with yearling steers
over 700 lbs trading with a firm to higher undertone. Demand was good on a
moderate supply with over all quality very good on the steer and heifer calves.
The feeder market continues to be very active as the fed cattle market
continues to set new highs as in the Northern Plains at 245.00-247.00 last week
and along with a record corn crop in the making has feeder cattle market very
active. Stick out sales included 34 steer calves weighing 486 at 491.00, pot
load steers 855 lbs at 344.75, 52 hd steers weighing 886 at 340.25 and 69
heifers weighing 575 lbs at 386.25. Slaughter cows sold steady with two weeks
ago with the bulk being average dressing cows.
