Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves under 650 lbs were lightly
tested on limited comparisons selling with a firm to higher undertone with a
pot load of steers weighing 696 lbs also selling with a firm undertone and two
pot loads of 850-865 lbs steers trading mostly 5.00 higher on similar weights.
Demand was good on a light offering. A couple of stick out sales included 60
steers weighing 851 lbs at 350.00, 56 steers weighing 1005 lbs at 320.00. The
market has seen a lot of outside market pressure but CME Feeder Cattle futures
had a good day to start the week closing with sharp gains of 5.82 to 6.37 on
the front four months. Slaughter cows sold steady on a light test.
