Butter - West U.S.

Released on January 28, 2026

Handlers indicate milk and cream volumes are generally meeting contractual
demands of butter producers in the West. However, some butter manufacturers are
bringing in spot cream loads to max out butter production capacity and augment
lower than anticipated weekly milk production. Butter production schedules are
robust, and inventories are building to more comfortable levels. Some contacts
report off-spec salted butter production due to improperly working salting
equipment. Contacts also indicate 80 percent butterfat butter spot loads are
widely available. Domestic demand is strong. Export butter demand varies from
moderate to strong and 82 percent butterfat butter spot loads are tight.
