Oceania whole milk powder (WMP) prices edged slightly lower this reporting 
period. Processor prices fell compared to both the previous month and the same 
period last year. Domestic WMP futures held steady for April but weakened 
across remaining contracts.

WMP prices at Global Dairy Trade (GDT) Event 402 declined across all offered 
contract periods. August fell 1.5 percent, while May through July slipped 
between 0.1 and 0.7 percent. No product was offered for September or October. 
Sales volumes were higher than at Event 401 but remained slightly below year 
earlier levels. North Asia was the leading WMP buyer at Event 402, accounting 
for 41 percent of total volume (an increase from 33 percent at the previous 
auction but down from 49 percent a year ago). Southeast Asia/Oceania was the 
second largest buyer at 30 percent, followed by the Middle East.

According to Dairy Australia, WMP production in Australia in December 2025 
totaled 2,537 metric tons (MT), a decrease of 33 percent compared to production 
totals in December 2024. Australian WMP production from July - December 2025 
totaled 11,342 MT, a decrease of 20 percent compared to production totals from 
July - December 2024.

Recently released export data from New Zealand showed March 2026 WMP export 
volumes were 162,140 MT, an increase of 32 percent from the year prior. Export 
volumes of WMP from January-March 2026 were 435,855 MT, up 9.6 percent from the 
same time frame a year ago.

At GDT Event 402 on April 21, 2026, the average WMP price index came in at 
$3,666 MT, a 0.6 percent decline from the previous event. The May contract 
averaged $3,659 MT, slipping 0.1 percent. Additional WMP price details are
