Oceania skim milk powder (SMP) prices fell in the current reporting period, 
with slight decreases in both the lower and upper ends of the price range. 
Domestic demand remains stronger than export demand, which weakened slightly in 
reporting period. 

At Global Dairy Trading (GDT) event 381, the average price for SMP across all 
contract periods was $2,807 per metric ton, with the price index down 1.1 
percent relative to GDT event 380. The price indices decreased across all 
contract periods for which loads were traded. The volume of SMP traded at GDT 
event 381 was slightly greater than the volume traded at event 380 and was 
about the same as the volume as the event one year prior (event 357).

Dairy Australia recently released export data for Australia showing SMP export 
volumes from July 2024 to March 2025 were 124,542 metric tons, up 19.2 percent 
from the same period a year ago.

During GDT event 381, on June 3, 2025, the average price for SMP across all 
contract periods was $2,807, corresponding to a 1.1 percent decline in the SMP 
price index from the prior event. The average price for the July contract was 
$2,839, with the July price index down 0.5 percent. More information on SMP
