Cheese - Oceania

Released on September 10, 2026

Cheddar cheese prices declined this reporting period, with losses occurring at
both ends of the range and a particularly sharp decrease at the lower end.
Processor prices also trended downward from last month and now sit 16 percent
below year-ago levels, as cheese markets continue to face heavy supply pressure.

At Global Dairy Trade (GDT) Event 411, cheddar recorded the steepest reductions
of all major products. Prices fell across every offered contract period,
ranging from decreases of 2.4 percent to more than 12 percent. The average
cheddar sale price fell to its lowest level in five years at this event. This
drop reflects expanding global cheese availability, reinforced by rising export
volumes from New Zealand, the United States, the European Union, Argentina, and
Australia. No cheddar was offered for the March contract at this event. Total
volume sold was similar to Event 410 and a year ago. November and December
accounted for 64 percent of all cheddar sales. North Asia led purchasing,
followed by Southeast Asia/Oceania and Africa.
