AMS_1082 MARS Cheese - Oceania Released on May 22, 2025 During the reporting period, Oceania cheddar cheese prices fell, decreasing slightly at the low end of the price range and decreasing substantially at the high end of the price range. Cheese production is lighter as milk production in Oceania declines seasonally. Export demand appears weaker since the previous reporting period, with domestic Oceania cheese prices exceeding Global Dairy Trade (GDT) prices in the current period. Cheddar cheese prices decreased substantially at GDT event 380. The all-contracts price was $5,007 per metric ton, down 9.2 percent from GDT event 379 but within price ranges observed over the past 12 months. Price indices decreased by 8.5 percent for both the June and July contracts, and indices decreased by 11.1 percent, 12.5 percent, and 4.6 percent for the August, September, and October contracts, respectively. Cheddar volumes traded at this week's GDT event were similar to volumes traded in GDT event 379 and the event held at the same time last year (GDT event 356). Export volumes of cheese from January - April 2025 were up 33.1 percent from the same time frame a year ago. During GDT event 380 on May 20, 2025, the cheddar all-contracts price, $5,007, decreased 9.2 percent from the prior event. The June contract average was $5,085, with the cheddar price index for June down 8.5 percent.
