Butter - Oceania

Released on June 05, 2025

The price range for Oceania butter expanded during the reporting period, as the
low end decreased and the high end increased. Butter production is limited and
inventories are tight as the 2024-2025 Oceania production season officially
draws to a close. Domestic demand is seasonally light. Export demand is strong
in the near term, but prices are expected to fall as milk production picks up
again in the fall. During GDT event 381, prices increased for the July and
August contracts, but fell across the September through December contracts.
Overall, the GDT price index for butter did not change from event 380,
suggesting sales of higher-priced butter in the near term were offset by sales
of lower-priced butter later in the year. The volume of butter sold increased
over GDT event 380 and the same time period last year.
