AMS_1099 MARS Butter - Oceania Released on May 22, 2025 During the reporting period, the low end of the price range for Oceania butter increased while the high end of the price range decreased. Butter production is lighter as Oceania approaches its seasonal low point in milk production. At Global Dairy Trade (GDT) event 380, butter prices decreased slightly from the prior event but remained near record-high levels. Export demand remains strong, with GDT prices mostly above domestic Oceania prices.The butter all-contracts price at GDT event 380 was $7,821 per metric ton, down 1.5 percent from the previous event but well above the butter all-contracts price from the same time last year. Relative to the previous GDT event, price indices decreased slightly for contracts in June (-1.9 percent), July (-1.7 percent), August (-2.5 percent), September (-2.1 percent), and November (-0.1 percent). The price index for the October contract increased slightly (+1.4 percent).Butter volumes traded at this week's GDT event decreased slightly from the volumes traded at GDT event 379 but were similar to the volumes traded at the event held at the same time last year (GDT event 356). Export volumes of butter from January - April 2025 were up 15.6 percent from the same time frame a year ago.During GDT event 380 on May 20, 2025, the butter all-contracts price, $7,821, decreased 1.5 percent from the prior event. The June contract average was $7,936, with the butter price index for June down 1.9 percent.
