Butter prices in Oceania fell sharply across the entire price range during the 
reporting period. Processor prices are down from both last month and the same 
period last year. The domestic futures curve eased across all contracts except 
September, which edged up by a modest 0.1 percent. A major New Zealand dairy 
cooperative reports that its forecasted 12-month total butter offer volume 
remains unchanged.Butter prices at Global Dairy Trade (GDT) Event 402 declined 
significantly, with the overall butter price index falling 7.9 percent. All 
contract periods posted negative movements, led by an 8.2 percent drop for 
June. Price indices for May, July, and August were also weaker, each down 
between 7.0 and 7.7 percent. No butter was offered for September or October 
delivery. Eighty-four percent of all butter sold was contracted for June and 
July shipment. Total butter volume sold at the event was slightly higher than 
both Event 401 and year-ago levels. North Asia was the largest purchasing 
region, accounting for 38 percent of total volume, followed by Europe and then 
Southeast Asia/Oceania.

According to Dairy Australia, butter production in Australia in December 2025 
totaled 4,754 metric tons (MT), an increase of 5.6 percent compared to 
production totals in December 2024. Australian butter production from July - 
December 2025 totaled 23,568 MT, an increase of 2.8 percent compared to 
production totals from July - December 2024.Recently released export data from 
New Zealand showed March 2026 butter export volumes were 28,241 MT, an increase 
of 8.7 percent from the year prior. Export volumes of butter from January-March 
2026 were 82,625 MT, up 0.9 percent from the same time frame a year ago.At GDT 
Event 402 on April 21, 2026, the average butter price index across all contract 
periods fell 7.9 percent from the previous event to $5,702 MT. The May contract
