Whey Protein Concentrate - Central and West U.S.

Released on September 10, 2026

Whey protein concentrate (WPC) 34% prices increased at both ends of the range
this week, while the mostly range held steady. Multiple spot loads moved in the
upper half of the mostly range and spot trading continues to command a premium.
Production remains highly limited and inventories are extremely tight, leaving
buyers struggling to secure any available product. Food grade demand is strong,
though some contacts note global demand could soften amid recent economic
shifts. Overall, upward price momentum persists, reinforcing a firm to
increasingly strengthening market tone.

Regular WPC 80% is mostly trading in the low to mid-$11s to the mid-$12s, with
the market quiet and leaning flat to weaker. Demand signals are mixed and Q4
contract talks remain slow as manufacturers hold firm on offers. Some contacts
note that buyers are generally holding off on purchases.

Instant WPC 80% prices have also weakened and are now in the mid-$11s to low to
mid-$12s.

Whey protein isolate (WPI) remains tight with prices holding from $14 to the
mid to upper-$14s. Inventories are tight with good demand, and some production
has recently shifted from WPC 80% sharply toward WPI. Market participants
expect some additional production to move to WPI in Q4, with conditions
remaining very stable and tight heading into the quarter.
