Whey protein concentrate (WPC) 34% markets weakened at both ends of the price 
range this week, though the mostly range remained steady. Supplies are 
extremely short, with any available infant formula spot loads reportedly 
commanding prices above $2.00/pound. Demand is strong across sectors, reflected 
in continued inquiries and high interest, including an unsolicited offer of 
$9.50/pound for a spot load of instant WPC 80%, which went unfilled due to lack 
of product. Contacts note that elevated prices for low/medium heat nonfat dry 
milk are driving additional feed market demand, and some food grade WPC 34% is 
moving into feed channels at prices near the bottom of the mostly range, adding 
further firmness to overall market tone.
