Lactose - Central and West U.S.

Released on May 28, 2026

Lactose prices moved higher at both ends of the price range, while the mostly
range held steady. Prices are supported by very strong demand and extremely
tight spot availability. Contacts report receiving more inquiries than they
have had in years and inventories remain difficult to source, particularly for
200-mesh. Some contacts note not receiving any spot offers for weeks.
Production is generally steady, but most output is committed to contracts,
keeping near-term supply constrained. Q3 contracts span from the upper $0.50s
to $0.70. Overall, the market tone is firm.
