Butter - Central U.S.

Released on July 23, 2025

In the Central region, milk production and component levels are declining
week-to-week, but both remain up from this time last year. Contacts say cream
volumes are tightening but spot availability remains sufficient to meet current
demand from ice cream and butter makers. Butter makers are actively churning
and some report they are freezing butter for use later in the year. Food
service butter demand is light, and retail sales are softening. International
prices for 82 percent butterfat butter remain high compared to butter produced
domestically. Contacts say this is contributing to strong export butter demand.
Spot loads of butter are available for purchasing.
