Fluid Milk and Cream - Central U.S.

Released on June 26, 2025

Temperatures continued to rise in the Central region, reducing cow comfort and
contributing to declining milk output. Contacts in the upper Midwest say milk
production is down slightly from last week, but they expect summer heat to have
a greater impact on output in the coming weeks. Demand for Class I milk is
seasonally light but remains strong for all other Classes. Spot prices for
Class III range from $8-under to flat this week. The bottom of this range is
notably lower than in week 26 last year, when spot prices for Class III milk
were priced from $1.50-under to flat. Contacts report favorable weather
conditions in recent weeks. Downtime at some cheese plants in the region has
left a greater volume of spot milk available compared to a year ago. Cream
multiples are unchanged from last week. Stakeholders say increasing
temperatures are having a negative impact on milk components, but components
remain up from this time last year. Some contacts anticipate cream will remain
available until after the July 4th holiday, but spot availability will tighten
in the following weeks.
