Dry Whey - Central U.S.

Released on October 16, 2025

In the Central region, prices are up across both the range and the mostly price
series this week. Domestic demand for dry whey is steady, but export demand is
mixed. Contacts report dry whey produced in Europe is priced below loads
produced domestically, limiting demand from purchasers in Asia. Meanwhile,
sales to Mexico are increasing and purchasers in the country are showing a
willingness to pay higher prices for specific brands. Spot purchasers say
inventories are tight, and some manufacturers remain sold out of spot loads.
Contacts say some inventory is available in the Southwest, but there is lighter
demand for these loads from purchasers in Mexico. Demand for whey protein
concentrate 80% and whey protein isolate are strong, inventories are tight, and
prices continue to increase. Plant managers say they are primarily focusing on
production of these products, keeping dry whey output limited. Animal feed whey
demand remains light and production is limited keeping inventories tight.
Prices for animal feed whey were unchanged at the bottom of the range but
increased at the top.
