Central region dry whey prices are unchanged at the bottoms of the range and 
mostly price series, but prices increased at the tops. Domestic demand has 
picked up this week, some contacts say traders are securing additional loads 
ahead of an export tender later in the month. International interest is 
unchanged, though the aforementioned tender is expected to have a positive 
impact on demand in the coming weeks. Spot loads are available overall, though 
some manufacturers say they have tight inventories. Contacts note that some 
production issues in recent weeks have contributed to lighter availability of 
dry whey in bags, while totes are easier to find. Production varies my 
manufacturer, some plant managers are running busy schedules, while others 
continue to focus on higher value whey protein concentrates. The market for 
animal feed whey remains quiet, prices are unchanged this week. Manufacturers 
say they are not actively producing animal feed whey, keeping inventories 
tight, though demand is light.
