Dry Whey - Central U.S.

Released on March 12, 2026

Dry whey prices decreased across the range and at the bottom of the mostly
price series in the Central region. The top of the mostly price range is
unchanged. Domestic demand continued to soften this week. Contacts say loads of
dry whey priced in the high $0.50s to low $0.60s are more appealing to
international purchasers. Escalating transportation fees are reducing some of
that appeal and keeping export demand relatively steady. Production is steady
but remains limited as drying schedules stay focused on higher whey protein
concentrates. Dry whey inventories are growing, though manufacturers of
preferred brands say they have few or no spot loads available. Animal feed whey
markets remain quiet, and spot trading is limited while inventories remain
tight. Prices for animal feed whey are unchanged this week.
