Dry Whey - Central U.S.

Released on March 05, 2026

The price range for dry whey is unchanged in the Central region this week,
while both ends of the mostly price series shifted lower. Demand is mixed.
Interest in some brands of dry whey and loads that meet certain end user
specifications is steady and inventories of these loads are tight. Dry whey
that does not meet those end user specifications is available for spot
purchasing, and demand for these loads is light. Dry whey priced near $0.60 is
more competitive in international markets, and some contacts say export demand
for loads offered at prices near the bottom of the range is strengthening.
Plant managers say they are running steady production schedules, though some
plant managers continue to limit their dry whey output as they focus on
higher-value whey protein concentrates. The price range for animal feed whey is
unchanged. Contacts report limited spot trading, amid light demand and tight
inventories.
