Strong Storm Continues Through Great Lakes Friday

A powerful storm brings extreme winds, heavy snow, and strong gusts across the Northern Plains.

A very strong storm system is moving through the Northern Plains Thursday afternoon. Scattered showers are falling in the region as well as a band of snow near the Canadian border. Winds are increasing and will be extreme this afternoon in the Plains, with gusts over 70 mph being possible. Winds will continue to be very strong in the Upper Midwest overnight and then in the Midwest on Friday as the system moves through the Great Lakes. Wind gusts could eclipse 60 mph in the Midwest. Snow could be heavy across the far north as well.
