System Moves Across North This Weekend; Warm Air Floods US Next Week

Some colder air will stick around for northern areas this weekend. But the week of Christmas will be warmer than normal.

A system is moving through the Northeast on Friday afternoon that has brought a burst of colder air through the Midwest. Another system in the Canadian Prairies will continue eastward through the weekend. It will not create much precipitation but will keep some of the colder air around for northern areas. However, the country is bracing for a flood of extremely warm air for next week that will continue to melt the northern snowpack and create potential records over the week of Christmas.
