Central US Severe Weather Thursday

A few showers dot the Midwest and eastern Texas early Wednesday afternoon. But a big system is moving through the Pacific Northwest into the Northern Plains. Showers and thunderstorms will develop there and down the Plains this afternoon and evening, but the heaviest precipitation will occur in the Canadian Prairies. The low-pressure center will increase across the Canadian Prairies on Thursday and turn rain into snow, where heavy amounts are forecast to occur. The system will send a cold front through the Plains and into the western Midwest, where strong-to-severe thunderstorms will develop in the afternoon and evening.
