Major Storm, Heavy Rain, Severe Weather for Central US This Weekend

Stalled boundary triggers central U.S. storms Friday; severe weather risk expands through the weekend.

A stalled boundary is producing a few showers and thunderstorms in the central U.S. early Friday afternoon. They are likely to increase throughout the afternoon and evening and may become severe. The same goes for similar areas on Saturday. A system will move through the Pacific Northwest on Saturday and then into the Northern Plains on Sunday, where widespread precipitation will develop. Additional showers and thunderstorms and severe weather are looking likely. The system is the first of two low-pressure centers moving through this weekend and early next week bent on bringing heavy rain, severe weather, and a burst of cold air through the middle of the country.
