Cold Continues to Spread on Thanksgiving

Cold east of the Rockies. Lake-effect snow for the Great Lakes. Major winter storm for the Plains, North-Central U.S.

A clipper system is maturing over the Great Lakes Wednesday afternoon. The cold front to the system continues to sweep across the eastern portions of the U.S. and cold air is rushing in behind it. That cold air will continue for most areas east of the Rockies for Thanksgiving with many folks around the Great Lakes experiencing heavy lake-effect snow into Friday. Another major winter system will move into the Plains on Friday with a mix of snow and rain, being heavy across the North-Central U.S. into the holiday weekend.
