Clipper Bringing Arctic Blast to US This Weekend
Cold air is on tap for the weekend; expect lake effect snows.
A clipper system is moving from the Midwest into the Northeast on Friday afternoon. Scattered showers are following its cold front and will build across the Southeast as well. Another clipper is moving into the Northern Plains with most of its precipitation north of the border in Canada. This clipper will follow a similar path, going through the Midwest and Great Lakes over the weekend. However, it will pull down a very cold air mass that currently sits over Canada. That will give most areas east of the Rockies a burst of arctic air and produce some heavy lake-effect snow in prone areas around the Great Lakes.
