Next Storm Enters Plains Thursday

Storm series brings rain, snow, and blizzard conditions across the northern U.S., with severe weather possible.

The first in a series of three storms continues to produce widespread rain and snow across the northern tier of the U.S. on Wednesday afternoon. Some areas of heavy rain and strong winds are combining to produce blizzard conditions in parts of the Upper Midwest. That storm will be phasing out going into Thursday, but the next one is hot on its heels, moving through the Southwest. The storm will ride east through Kansas tonight into Thursday, arcing quickly northward into Wisconsin by Friday morning. A band of snow will develop on the north side of the track of the low-pressure center, producing some areas of moderate accumulation. To the east, the storm will develop scattered showers and thunderstorms, some of which may be severe across the Ohio Valley.
