Well Above Seasonal Temperatures Continue

Temperatures will be 5-15 degrees above normal across the region today.

Heavy snow is possible across parts of the northern Great Lakes, while a wintry mix including freezing rain will affect areas further south. Saturday night and into early next week, another deep system will bring wind and winter impacts across the Great Lakes and Northeast, while a cold front brings a line of rain and likely thunderstorms across areas further south.

-Days 4-6: Temperatures trend closer to normal, with cooler air moving in from the north.

-Days 7-10: Below average temperatures spread across much of the region, particularly in the interior Northeast and Great Lakes.

CENTRAL:  A complex storm system will bring a variety of weather hazards to the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest through Saturday. Heavy snow is likely across these areas. Severe thunderstorms are possible in the lower Mississippi Valley. This weekend and into early next week, another deep low will bring additional winter impacts to the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest, including heavy snow and areas of freezing rain. Further south, rain and thunderstorms could spawn along the passing cold front associated with the system.

Temperature Anomalies:

-Days 1-3: Above average temperatures across most of the region, especially in the Plains.

-Days 4-6: Temperatures cool to near or below average as colder air moves in from the north.

-Days 7-10: Below average temperatures persist across the northern tier, while above average warmth builds in the southern Plains.

WEST:  A series of storm systems will bring periods of rain and mountain snow to the Pacific Northwest and Northern Rockies through the weekend. Dry conditions are expected elsewhere, with high pressure dominating across the Southwest. Critical fire weather conditions are possible in parts of the Southwest on Thursday.

Temperature Anomalies:

-Days 1-3: Near to slightly below average temperatures across most of the region.

-Days 4-6: Temperatures warm to above average levels, especially in the interior West.
