Weekend Storms

A cold front will build in from the west later this evening and push storms eastward across the region through Sunday with a severe weather threat.

Today’s Weather Highlights:

– Widespread showers and thunderstorms starting to build into the Mississippi Valley.

– Severe weather will be possible with this activity, with tornadoes, damaging wind gusts, and large hail all possible threats.

– High pressure holds farther east, keeping the rest of the region dry.

– Temperatures: 5-14 degrees above normal for most, with the warmest anomalies in the Mississippi Valley. Closer to normal in Florida and along the Atlantic Coast. 

Forecast Confidence: High

Temperatures may verify cooler in areas where thunderstorm activity occurs.

Tomorrow’s Weather Highlights:

– Widespread showers and thunderstorms along a cold front tracking east through the region.

– Severe weather will be possible with this activity, with tornadoes, damaging wind gusts, and large hail all possible threats.

– Temperatures: Near to 5 degrees below normal across much of the region; 2-4 degrees above normal along the Atlantic Coast.

Forecast Confidence: High

Temperatures will verify cooler in areas that see extended periods of rain and cloud cover during the day.

3-5 DAY EXTENDED OUTLOOK:

Monday:

– Mainly dry weather expected in the wake of the weekend cold front.

– A few showers may linger across Peninsular Florida as the cold front exits.

– Temperatures: Near to 6 degrees below normal across the region. 

Tuesday:

– Remaining dry for most areas with a few afternoon showers and storms possible in Florida and closer to the Mississippi Valley.

– Temperatures: Within 4 degrees of normal across the region.

Wednesday:

– Mostly dry with a few isolated showers possible in the Carolinas and Peninsular Florida.

– Temperatures: 3-8 degrees below normal for most, closer to normal in Florida.
