Warmup Trend Expected

Temps lift to above to well above normal for the rest of the weekend

General Overview: PASSING LOW-PRESSURE AND COLD FRONT WILL BRING A VARIETY OF HAZARDOUS WEATHER ACROSS MUCH OF THE CENTRAL AND EASTERN UNITED STATES OVER THE WEEKEND, WITH A DRY OUT LIKELY EARLY NEXT WEEK.

EAST: A broad area of low pressure will track from the Southern Plains into Southern Ontario, producing widespread heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across much of the Eastern US this weekend. Severe thunderstorms capable of damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes are possible, favoring areas from the lower Mississippi Valley into Western NY. Excessive rainfall may lead to flash flooding from the Lower Mississippi Valley into the Ohio Valley. Drier conditions are anticipated to return Monday and into the early work week for most areas. Areas of rain will likely remain possible at times along the Gulf Coast. Further north, a few periods of light snow will become possible for the Great Lakes and Northeast.

Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Well above normal east of the Rockies
-Days 4-6: Above normal for the East Coast, near to below normal elsewhere
-Days 7-10: Near to slightly below normal for most areas

CENTRAL: Rain and Thunderstorms will persist across the Southern Plains and Lower Mississippi Valley today as the cold front departs. Further north, mixed precipitation and snow will linger across parts of MN/WI. Drier weather will return across much of the Central US Sunday and through much of the upcoming week. The Upper Midwest could see a few chances for light snow early to mid next week, with areas along the Gulf Coast seeing intermittent rain and thunderstorm chances.

Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Well above normal
-Days 4-6: Near to slightly below normal
-Days 7-10: Near normal

WEST: A relatively quiet weather pattern is expected for much of the West through the weekend and much of next week as strong high-pressure deters any organized activity. Some precipitation chances exist across the Pacific Northwest and Northern Rockies early to mid next week, however.

Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Near to slightly above normal
-Days 4-6: Near normal
-Days 7-10: Near to slightly above normal

TROPICAL: No tropical cyclone activity is expected during the next 7 days.
