Northwest Energy Highlights

Warmer Today

Above normal temps are anticipated across the Northwest today.

General Overview: QUIETER CONDITIONS RETURN ACROSS MOST AREAS BEHIND THE FRONT THROUGH THE EARLY WEEK. A MORE ACTIVE PATTERN WILL BE SEEN ACROSS THE CENTRAL AND EASTERN US MID TO LATE THIS WEEK WITH RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS RETURNING.

EAST: Rain showers will linger across the Eastern Coast today along the departing front, with snow mixing in across the Northeast. Mostly dry weather will then be seen through the early work week as high-pressure affects the Eastern US, although a few chances for light rain will be seen across northern areas. High-pressure will shift southward through the mid week, with an approaching low-pressure system and cold front pushing across much of the Eastern US late this week and into the weekend.

Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Near to below normal, especially north, at 6-12F below average
-Days 4-6: Warm trend returns, with near or just above average temperatures expected.
-Days 7-10: Moderating to slightly below normal.

CENTRAL: Generally dry weather will be seen through the remainder of the weekend and through the early work week as high-pressure develops. Areas of rain and storms may linger across portions of Texas, however. Greater chances for rain will be seen late this week and possibly into the weekend as an area of low-pressure and attendant cold front pushes through the region, with thunderstorms likely as well.

Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Warming trend, 5-10 degrees above normal.
-Days 4-6: Above average temperatures continue, 6-12 degrees above average.
-Days 7-10: Moderating to slightly below normal, mainly north.

WEST: Dry weather will continue through the latter half of the weekend. Into and throughout the upcoming work week, chances for rain and mountain snow will push into the Northwest and Northern Rockies as a new area of low-pressure transitions over the Western US. Precipitation may push further south at times, but is expected to mainly remain across northern areas.

Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Above to well above average, 10-20 degrees above normal.
-Days 4-6: Moderating temperatures, still remaining slightly above average.
-Days 7-10: Warming trend could return.

TROPICAL: No tropical cyclone activity is expected across the Atlantic, Caribbean or Gulf of Mexico during the next 7 days.
