Warmer Temps In Plains

Above normal temps are anticipated in the region, especially focused along/ahead of dryline in western OK into west TX

General Overview: A MORE ACTIVE PATTERN WILL BRING MULTIPLE ROUNDS OF RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE CENTRAL US OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS, WITH RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS PUSHING FURTHER EAST AT TIMES. RAIN AND MOUNTAIN SNOW WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE WESTERN US, ESPECIALLY THE NORTHWEST.

EAST: High-pressure will prolong dry weather across much of the region today. A new area of low-pressure will bring rain and thunderstorm chances across western portions of the region today. Rain chances will push eastward into the Mid-Atlantic on Friday, with the Southeast seeing continued rain and storm chances. A brief dry-out could be seen to end the weekend, although another area of low-pressure will bring returning rain and thunderstorm chances Monday and into mid next week.

Temperature Anomalies: 
-Days 1-3: Near to below normal, especially north, at 6-12F below average 
-Days 4-6: Warm trend returns, with near or just above average temperatures expected. 
-Days 7-10: Moderating to slightly below normal.

CENTRAL: A cold front will bring rain and thunderstroms across the Northern/Central Plains and Mississippi Valley today and tonight, with areas of rain and thundestorms lingering across the Southern Plains and Lower Mississippi Valley on Friday. Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible each day. A new area of low-pressure will bring additional rain and thunderstorms to the area Saturday and into next week as another area of low-pressure pushes across the Central US.  The best chances will favor the Northern and Central Plains. 

Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Warming trend, 5-10 degrees above normal. 
-Days 4-6: Above average temperatures continue, 6-12 degrees above average.
-Days 7-10: Moderating to slightly below normal, mainly north.

WEST: Rain and snow will continue across the Northwest and Northern Rockies through the end of the week. Another area of low-pressure will try to push across the Western US, with more widespread chances for rain and mountain snow likely late Saturday and into early next week. Parts of the Southwest may remain mostly dry through the period, however.

Temperature Anomalies: 
-Days 1-3: Above to well above average, 10-20 degrees above normal.
-Days 4-6: Moderating temperatures, still remaining slightly above average.
-Days 7-10: Warming trend could return.

TROPICAL: No tropical cyclone activity is expected across the Atlantic, Caribbean or Gulf of Mexico during the next 7 days.
