Seasonal Temperatures Today

General Overview: AN ACTIVE WEATHER PATTERN WILL BRING A MIX OF RAIN, SNOW, AND THUNDERSTORMS TO MUCH OF THE COUNTRY OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS. SOME AREAS COULD SEE HEAVY PRECIPITATION AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS.

EAST: A strong storm system will track up the East Coast, bringing widespread precipitation from the Southeast to the Northeast. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected across the Southeast states, with a risk of severe weather. As the system moves northward, a wintry mix of rain, freezing rain, and snow will impact the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions. Significant snowfall accumulations are possible in parts of the interior Northeast. Gusty winds may also accompany this system.

Temperature Anomalies:  
-Days 1-3: Above normal across the Southeast, cooler than normal Northeast
-Days 4-6: Cooler than normal for most areas  
-Days 7-10: Trending warmer than normal

CENTRAL: Unsettled weather conditions will persist across the Central states. A series of low-pressure systems will bring rounds of rain and thunderstorms, with the potential for severe weather, especially across the Plains states. Some wintry precipitation is also possible in the northern tier states. Flooding may become a concern with the repeated bouts of heavy rainfall.  

Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Near to slightly above normal  
-Days 4-6: Below normal behind a cold front
-Days 7-10: Moderating temperatures

WEST: The West will remain mostly dry, with high pressure dominating the weather pattern. However, some precipitation chances exist across the Pacific Northwest and Northern Rockies as disturbances move through. Cooler than normal temperatures are expected across the Northwest, while the Southwest sees above-normal readings.

Temperature Anomalies:  
-Days 1-3: Below normal Northwest, above normal Southwest
-Days 4-6: Temperatures moderating  
-Days 7-10: Near to slightly above normal for most areas

TROPICAL: Tropical cyclone activity is not expected during the next 7 days.
