Seasonal Temperatures Today

Temperatures are expected to remain mild, and within 5 degrees of normal.

General Overview: HIGH-PRESSURE WILL DETER ORGANIZED ACTIVITY ACROSS MUCH OF THE US OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS. A STALLED FRONTAL BOUNDARY WILL GIVE WAY TO RAIN SHOWERS ACROSS CENTRAL AND NORTHERN PORTIONS OF THE EASTERN/CENTRAL US MID TO LATE THIS WEEK. THUNDERSTORMS RETURN TO THE CENTRAL US MID TO LATE THIS WEEK.

EAST: High-pressure will bring generally dry conditions across much of the Eastern US early to mid this week. Snow may linger across parts of the Northeast, with rain and thunderstorms possible across the Gulf Coast. Drier conditions will return across the southeast late this week. A frontal boundary will approach and stall across northern areas. This will give way to areas of rain from the Ohio Valley and into the Mid-Atlantic and Northern late this week and possibly into this weekend.

Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Above normal east of the Appalachians, below normal west
-Days 4-6: Below normal for most areas
-Days 7-10: Trending warmer, especially in the Northeast

CENTRAL: High-pressure will generally deter organized activity early this week, with a few rain/snow showers possible for the Midwest. A clipper system could bring a wintry mix to the Upper Midwest on Wednesday, with a frontal boundary approaching and stalling across the Central Plains and into the Midwest mid to late this week. This front will bring areas of rain and thunderstorms as it stalls. Rain and thunderstorm chances will linger this weekend, likely spreading into the Southern Plains as well.

Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Above normal south, below normal north
-Days 4-6: Below normal for most areas
-Days 7-10: Moderating temperatures

WEST: Generally dry weather will be seen across the majority of the Western US through the first half of the week. Some light precipitation chances may develop across the Pacific Northwest and to the Northern Rockies, as well as across the Four Corners region. Increasing moisture may bring returning rain chances to the West Coast and parts of the Great Basin late this week and into this weekend.

Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Near to slightly above normal
-Days 4-6: Cooler than normal
-Days 7-10: Warming trend

TROPICAL: No tropical cyclone activity is expected during the next 7 days.
