Scattered Snow Showers Continue at TImes

Dry conditions return for some with scattered snow showers across the west.

General Overview: ACTIVE WEATHER PATTERN BRINGS RAIN, SNOW, AND MIXED PRECIPITATION TO MUCH OF THE EASTERN HALF OF THE COUNTRY OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS. TEMPERATURES WILL VARY SIGNIFICANTLY ACROSS REGIONS.

EAST:  A low pressure system off the East Coast will bring rain and thunderstorms to the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions on Sunday. As this system moves northeastward, it will bring periods of snow to parts of the Northeast by Monday. Heavy snow is possible in some interior areas. By Tuesday, the precipitation will move out, but another system may bring more mixed precipitation to the region by Wednesday.

Temperature Anomalies:

-Days 1-3: Above average temperatures for most of the region, especially in the Southeast.

-Days 4-6: Cooling trend, with temperatures dropping to near or below average for much of the area.

-Days 7-10: Temperatures generally near average, with some cooler than normal conditions in the Northeast.

CENTRAL:  High pressure will dominate the Central US on Sunday and Monday, bringing mostly dry conditions. By Tuesday, a low pressure system will develop over the Northern Plains, bringing snow and mixed precipitation to parts of the region. This system will move eastward, potentially bringing rain and thunderstorms to the southern portions of the Central US by Wednesday.

Temperature Anomalies:

-Days 1-3: Near to slightly below average temperatures for most areas.

-Days 4-6: Warming trend, with temperatures rising to above average, especially in the Southern Plains.

-Days 7-10: Continued above average temperatures for much of the region, particularly in the Southern Plains and Midwest.

WEST:  A series of Pacific storm systems will bring rain and mountain snow to the Pacific Northwest and Northern California over the next few days. High pressure over the Southwest will keep conditions dry there. By midweek, precipitation may spread further inland, affecting more of the Intermountain West.

Temperature Anomalies:

-Days 1-3: Below average temperatures for much of the region, especially in the Northwest.

-Days 4-6: Gradual warming trend, with temperatures rising to near or slightly above average.

-Days 7-10: Above average temperatures for most of the West, particularly in the Southwest.

TROPICAL: No tropical cyclone activity is expected during the next 7 days.
