Rain Continues Today

Rain showers will persist across much of the region today, likely trending dry later this evening and overnight.

General Overview: AN ACTIVE WEATHER PATTERN WILL BRING RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS THE CENTRAL US OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS, WITH LESSER RAIN AND THUNDERSTORM CHANCES PUSHING INTO THE GREAT LAKES AND NORTHEAST EARLY NEXT WEEK.

EAST: Lingering high-pressure will give way to generally dry weather across the Southeast over the next several days. Coastal showers or storms will become possible at times, however, mainly for Florida. Rain will be seen today across the Great Lakes and Northeast, with dry weather returning for most areas on Saturday. Increasing rain and thunderstorm chances will be seen Sunday and into early to mid next week as multiple areas of low-pressure push north into Ontario/Quebec.

Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Well above normal across the East
-Days 4-6: Above normal, especially interior sections
-Days 7-10: Trending cooler, near to below normal

CENTRAL: An active stretch of weather will be seen late this week and into next week. Near daily chances for rain and thunderstorms will be seen across southern and central portions of the region through the late week, with rain and thunderstorms pushing into the Midwest through early next week. The severe weather threat will favor the Southern/Central plains today and through the weekend, with the threat expanding across much of the Mississippi Valley early next week.

Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Well above normal
-Days 4-6: Above normal south, near to below normal north
-Days 7-10: Trending cooler, near to below normal

WEST: High pressure will bring generally dry and mild conditions to much of the Western states through the end of the work week. However, a few disturbances may bring some precipitation to the Pacific Northwest and Northern Rockies at times.  High-pressure may break down, promote greater chances for rain and mountain snow across the West Coast and Intermountain West early this weekend and into next week.

Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Above normal across the West
-Days 4-6: Well above normal Southwest, near normal Northwest
-Days 7-10: Trending cooler, near to below normal Northwest

TROPICAL: Tropical cyclone activity is not expected during the next 7 days.
