Rain and Thunderstorms Continue
Areas of rain and thunderstorms, some strong to severe, will persist across Texas and Oklahoma today.
General Overview: A SERIES OF SYSTEMS WILL BRING RAIN AND SEVERE STORMS TO MUCH OF THE CENTRAL AND EASTERN US OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS.
EAST: An intense area of low pressure will track from the Central Plains into the Northeast, giving way to rain across much of the Eastern US through the mid to late week. Thunderstorms, some strong to severe, are likely to develop from the Great Lakes and into the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. Drier weather could return late in the week, although additional areas of rain will be seen across the region Saturday as a new area of low-pressure swings a cold front across the area. Additional thunderstorm chances could be seen from the Gulf Coast to the Great Lakes.
Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Well above normal east of the Rockies, 10-20+ degrees above average
-Days 4-6: Cooling behind the storm, near to below normal
-Days 7-10: Moderating back to above normal
CENTRAL: Severe thunderstorms are likely from the Southern Plains into the Ohio Valley on Tuesday, with an enhanced risk of tornadoes, damaging winds and large hail. Thunderstorm threats will persist from the Southern Plains to Upper Midwest on Wednesday as well. Briefly dry weather could be seen on Thursday for most areas, although another area of low-pressure and attendant cold front will bring rain and thunderstorms across much of the region Friday and into Saturday. Drier weather may set up later in the weekend.
Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Well above normal, 15-25+ degrees above average
-Days 4-6: Cooling behind the storm to near or below normal
-Days 7-10: Moderating back above normal
WEST: Precipitation coverage will ease across much of the Western US today. Generally dry weather will then be seen across southwest areas through the remainder of the week. Areas of rain and mountain snow will persist across the Pacific Northwest and east towards the Northern Rockies through the remainder of the week, however.
Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Near to slightly above normal
-Days 4-6: Slightly below normal across the Northwest
-Days 7-10: Trending warmer, above normal
TROPICAL: No tropical cyclone activity is expected across the Atlantic, Caribbean, or Gulf of Mexico during the next 7 days.
