General Overview: A POTENT STORM SYSTEM WILL BRING A VARIETY OF HAZARDOUS WEATHER ACROSS MUCH OF THE CENTRAL AND EASTERN UNITED STATES OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS.
EAST: An intense area of low pressure will track from the Central Plains into the Ohio Valley and Northeast through midweek. Severe thunderstorms capable of damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes are expected from the Lower Mississippi Valley into the Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic states Monday and Tuesday. Heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding, especially across the Ohio Valley and into the Northeast Tuesday into Wednesday. As colder air wraps in behind the system, a widespread swath of heavy snow is likely from the Central Plains into the Great Lakes Wednesday into Thursday, with blizzard conditions possible. Freezing rain may also become an issue for parts of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast during this time.

CENTRAL: Severe thunderstorms are expected to erupt across the Central/Southern Plains into the Lower Mississippi Valley Monday into Tuesday ahead of the approaching storm system. Damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes will all be threats with these storms. Heavy rainfall could also lead to flash flooding. As the low tracks eastward, a swath of heavy snow is likely from the Central Plains into the Upper Midwest Wednesday into Thursday, with blizzard conditions possible. Behind this system, much colder air will filter into the region.

WEST: The overall weather pattern will remain relatively tranquil across the Western states through the upcoming week. A few disturbances may bring some precipitation to the Pacific Northwest and Northern Rockies, but no major storm systems are expected.
