Near-Normal Temperatures Continuing Along the Coast; Warmer Elsewhere
Temperatures will trend close to normal along the coast, while remaining about 5-12 degrees above normal across the interior.
General Overview: ACTIVE WEATHER PATTERN BRINGS RAIN, SNOW, AND SEVERE STORMS TO MUCH OF THE COUNTRY OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS. FREEZING RAIN THREAT IN THE MIDWEST AND NORTHEAST. ABOVE AVERAGE TEMPERATURES FOR MOST AREAS.
EAST: A complex weather system will bring a variety of precipitation types to the Eastern U.S. over the next few days. Rain is expected along the East Coast, with a mix of rain, snow, and freezing rain further inland. The Northeast faces a significant threat of freezing rain, which could lead to hazardous travel conditions and potential power outages. As the system progresses, thunderstorms may develop in the Southeast, with some potentially becoming severe.
Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Near normal to slightly above normal temperatures, with cooler conditions in the Northeast.
-Days 4-6: Warming trend begins, with temperatures rising to 6-12°F above normal for much of the region.
-Days 7-10: Continued above-normal temperatures, with anomalies of 6-12°F or more above average, especially in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast.
CENTRAL: The Central U.S. will experience a dynamic weather pattern over the coming days. A low-pressure system will bring rain and thunderstorms to the southern Plains, while snow and mixed precipitation are expected in the northern Plains and Upper Midwest. There is a significant risk of freezing rain in parts of the Midwest, which could lead to dangerous ice accumulations. As the system moves eastward, severe thunderstorms may develop in the lower Mississippi Valley.
Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Below normal temperatures in the northern Plains and Upper Midwest, near to slightly above normal elsewhere.
-Days 4-6: Warming trend begins, with temperatures rising to 6-12°F above normal for much of the region.
-Days 7-10: Continued above-normal temperatures, with anomalies of 6-12°F or more above average, especially in the northern Plains and Upper Midwest.
WEST: The Western U.S. will see a mix of weather conditions over the next few days. Rain and mountain snow are expected in the Pacific Northwest and Northern Rockies. The Southwest will remain mostly dry, but cooler temperatures are anticipated. As the week progresses, a new system may bring increased precipitation chances to California and the Great Basin.
Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Near to slightly below normal temperatures for most areas, with some cooler spots in the Rockies.
-Days 4-6: Gradual warming trend, with temperatures rising to near or slightly above normal for most of the region.
-Days 7-10: Continued warming, with temperatures 3-6°F above normal for much of the West, though some areas may remain near normal.
TROPICAL: No tropical cyclone activity is expected during the next 7 days.
