DTN Weekly Average DDG Price Slightly Lower

MINNEAPOLIS (DTN) — The average DTN spot price for domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) from 33 locations reporting for the week ended May 14 was $186 per ton on average, down $1 versus one week ago.
DDG prices were mixed but slightly lower on average for the week, while cash corn was steady and soybean meal prices were higher versus one week ago, up $13.60 per ton. As for cash corn, the DTN National Average Corn Index was unchanged versus one week ago.
Based on the average of prices collected by DTN, the value of DDG relative to corn for the week ended May 14 was 1.114%. The value of DDG relative to soybean meal was 55.94% and the cost per unit of protein for DDG was $6.89 compared to the cost per unit of protein for soybean meal at $7.00.
U.S. Grains and Bioproducts Council, in its weekly distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) export market prices report, showed these June prices as of May 14: CIF NOLA barge price was up $1 at $252 metric ton (mt) versus on week ago; FOB vessel Gulf price was down $4 at $265 mt; rail delivered PNW was down $2 at $277; and rail delivered to California was down $8 at $272 mt.
The Energy Information Administration reported on Wednesday (5/13) that overall ethanol production in the United States averaged 1.082 million bpd, up 65,000 bpd week-on-week and 46,000 bpd, or 4.3% higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 1.037 million bpd was 14,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year. Midwest ethanol production averaged 1.022 million bpd, up 63,000 bpd week-on-week and 42,000 bpd, or 4.1% higher than in the same week last year. Four-week average output at 979,000 bpd was 14,000 bpd above the same four weeks last year.
