A strong cold front continues to work through the eastern U.S. Thursday afternoon, bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms to the eastern Corn Belt through the East Coast. At the same time, a clipper system is moving into the Northern Plains with showers of its own. It will quickly move into the Great Lakes on Friday, spreading showers south and east with it. Strong winds may be the saving grace for many areas from experiencing a frost, at least on Friday morning.
