General Overview: AN ACTIVE PATTERN WITH SEVERAL WAVES OF RAIN AND MIXED WINTRY PRECIPITATION FOR THE COUNTRY. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS MAY BE POSSIBLE AT TIMES IN THE SOUTHEAST. ABOVE AVERAGE TEMPERATURES FOR MUCH OF THE COUNTRY.
EAST: A few waves of rain will be possible across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic through the period, with some snow and mixed precipitation possible in northern areas. Farther south, showers and thunderstorms are possible across portions of the Southeast, with some storms possibly trending severe at times. Heavy rainfall may lead to localized flooding issues as well.
Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Near to slightly below average temperatures across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. Above average temperatures for the Southeast.
-Days 4-6: Warming trend with above average temperatures spreading across most of the region.
-Days 7-10: Well above average temperatures for much of the East, especially in the Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic where anomalies may reach 10-15°F above normal.
CENTRAL: A few more minor waves of precipitation will be possible to begin the period before the pattern turns more active late in the period, with more widespread chances for rain and some areas of accumulating snow becoming possible. Thunderstorms will also become possible across parts of Oklahoma and Texas later in the period.
Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Well below average temperatures across the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest behind the storm system. Near to slightly above average elsewhere.
-Days 4-6: Moderating temperatures with above average readings spreading across most of the region.
-Days 7-10: Much above average temperatures for nearly the entire Central US, with anomalies of 10-15°F above normal possible in some areas.
WEST: A series of storm systems will bring periods of rain and mountain snow to the Pacific Northwest and Northern Rockies over the next several days. Heavy snow is likely in the higher elevations, with 1-2 feet possible in some mountain ranges. Elsewhere, generally dry conditions are expected across the Southwest and California.
Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Near to slightly above average temperatures for most areas. Cooler than normal in the Pacific Northwest.
-Days 4-6: Warming trend with above average temperatures spreading across much of the region, especially in the interior West.
-Days 7-10: Well above average temperatures for nearly the entire Western US, with anomalies of 6-12°F above normal in many areas.
TROPICAL: No tropical cyclone activity is expected in the Atlantic or Eastern Pacific basins over the next 7 days.
