Most areas remain dry today but some portions of the region could see some scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms tonight.
General Overview: COLD FRONT BRINGS RAIN, SNOW, AND THUNDERSTORMS TO CENTRAL AND EASTERN US. HEAVY SNOW POSSIBLE IN NORTHERN PLAINS AND UPPER MIDWEST. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS THREATEN CENTRAL PLAINS.
EAST: A cold front will sweep through the region, bringing rain and thunderstorms to much of the area. The Northeast can expect rain changing to snow, with heavy snow possible in parts of the Great Lakes and interior Northeast. Freezing rain is a concern for portions of the interior Mid-Atlantic. As the front passes, cooler air will filter in behind it.
Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Near normal to slightly below normal temperatures
-Days 4-6: Warming trend with above normal temperatures spreading across the region
-Days 7-10: Continued above normal temperatures, especially in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast
CENTRAL: A potent storm system will bring a variety of hazardous weather to the region. Heavy snow is likely across the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest, with blizzard conditions possible. The Central Plains face a risk of severe thunderstorms, including the potential for tornadoes. Rain and thunderstorms will extend from the Great Lakes to the Gulf Coast. As the system moves east, colder air will filter in behind it.
Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Well above normal temperatures across much of the region
-Days 4-6: Cooling trend with near to below normal temperatures
-Days 7-10: Gradual warming with above normal temperatures returning, especially in the Plains
WEST: The region will experience generally quiet weather, with a few areas of light precipitation in the Pacific Northwest and Northern Rockies. A high pressure system will dominate, leading to dry conditions for most areas. Critical fire weather is possible in parts of Wyoming.

-Days 1-3: Above normal temperatures, especially in the Southwest and Rockies
-Days 4-6: Continued above normal temperatures across most of the region
-Days 7-10: Persistent above normal temperatures, with the warmest anomalies in the interior West
TROPICAL: No tropical cyclone activity is expected during the next 7 days in the Atlantic, Caribbean, or Gulf of Mexico.
