Dry Conditions Persist
High-pressure will bring dry conditions across much of the region through today, with a few rain showers or thunderstorms possible across southern FL.
General Overview: HIGH-PRESSURE WILL PROMOTE QUIETER CONDITIONS ACROSS MUCH OF THE US EARLY TO MID THIS WEEK. A MORE ACTIVE PATTERN WILL BE SEEN ACROSS THE CENTRAL AND EASTERN US LATE IN THE WEEK WITH RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS RETURNING.
EAST: High-pressure will promote generally dry weather across the Eastern US early this week, with disorganized rain showers possible at times across northern areas. High-pressure will shift southward through the mid to late in the week, prolonging mostly dry conditions across southern areas. An approaching low-pressure system and cold front could bring returning rain and thunderstorm chances across western areas late in the week and into the weekend.
Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Near to below normal, especially north, at 6-12F below average
-Days 4-6: Warm trend returns, with near or just above average temperatures expected.
-Days 7-10: Moderating to slightly below normal.
CENTRAL: Dry weather will be seen for most areas early to mid this week as high-pressure deters any organized activity. Areas of rain and storms may linger across portions of Texas, however. Greater chances for rain will be seen Thursday and into the weekend as an area of low-pressure and attendant cold front pushes through the region, with thunderstorms likely as well.
Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Warming trend, 5-10 degrees above normal.
-Days 4-6: Above average temperatures continue, 6-12 degrees above average.
-Days 7-10: Moderating to slightly below normal, mainly north.
WEST: As the week progresses, chances for rain and mountain snow will spread across the western coast, with precipitation pushing across the the Intermountain West and Northern Rockies mid to late in the week. Precipitation may push further south at times, but is expected to mainly remain across northern areas.
Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Above to well above average, 10-20 degrees above normal.
-Days 4-6: Moderating temperatures, still remaining slightly above average.
-Days 7-10: Warming trend could return.
TROPICAL: No tropical cyclone activity is expected across the Atlantic, Caribbean or Gulf of Mexico during the next 7 days.
