Corn Futures Higher at 6:00 a.m. CST Friday
DTN Newsletter comments.
Corn: March corn futures settled up 3 1/2 cents on Wednesday to $4.51, the highest close for the contract in over a month and just the second close above $4.50 since the Fourth of July gap lower.
Soybeans: January soybean futures finished Wednesday up 11 3/4 cents, settling at $10.63 1/4. The soybean market was a Holiday surprise on Christmas Eve with a double-digit push higher, although the true momentum of the move is difficult to gauge with very low volume behind the trade.
Wheat: Wheat markets were higher on Wednesday with March KC futures closing at $5.34, up 6 cents. March KC futures are higher in five of the past six sessions and closed above the 100-day moving average on Wednesday, a rare technical achievement for the board in 2025.
Live Cattle: February live cattle futures fell $1.45 on Wednesday to $228.55 in a quiet session, retreating from resistance at the 100-day moving average through the week but holding for now above support at the 50-day moving average ($226.73).
Cotton: March cotton futures closed up 0.23 cent per lb on Wednesday to 64.24, up in five of the past six sessions but stalling just short of resistance at the 50-day moving average (64.25).
