Below Normal Temperatures Continue
Temperatures will be slightly below normal by 4-8 degrees.
General Overview: ACTIVE WEATHER PATTERN BRINGS SNOW, RAIN, AND MIXED PRECIPITATION TO MUCH OF THE COUNTRY OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS. HEAVY SNOW POSSIBLE IN THE NORTHWEST AND NORTHERN ROCKIES. SEVERE STORMS THREATEN THE SOUTHEAST MIDWEEK.
EAST: A strong low-pressure system with heavy snow and strong winds exits the Northeast today. A couple additional disturbances will track through the area through the mid and late week, bringing additional chances for rain and snow. By late week, there is a threat of severe thunderstorms in parts of the Southeast and Gulf Coast as a cold front moves through. Heavy rainfall and flash flooding will be possible with the strongest storms.
Temperature Anomalies:
-Days 1-3: Below average temperatures across most of the region, especially in the Northeast.
-Days 4-6: Temperatures moderate and return closer to average for most areas.
-Days 7-10: Warming trend continues with above average temperatures spreading across much of the East.
CENTRAL: An active weather pattern will bring multiple rounds of precipitation to the Central U.S. Snow is likely across the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest, with moderate snow possible in some areas. Rain and mixed precipitation will fall further south. By midweek, there is a risk of severe thunderstorms in parts of the Southern Plains as a strong cold front moves through. Heavy rainfall and flash flooding will be possible with the strongest storms.

WEST: A storm system will bring heavy precipitation to much of the Western U.S. early in the week. Heavy snow is expected in the Cascades, Northern Rockies, and Sierra Nevada, with several feet of accumulation possible in some areas. Rain will fall at lower elevations, with heavy rainfall possible in parts of California and the Pacific Northwest. There is a risk of flooding and mudslides in areas that receive heavy rainfall. Drier weather will prevail later in the week.
